1914-1918 : FROM ONE WORLD TO ANOTHER
POSTERS MAKE HISTORY
I bought my first collection of posters as a junior dealer. They were mainly French and regarded the Great War.
Since then, my fascination with those pictures fully representative of the art of posters - convincing, artistic and historical - has never stopped.
To prepare the exhibition "1914-1918 From one world to another – Posters make history ", we gathered pictures illustrating the main topics of the conflict.
Without following a chronological order, we intended to have pictures emblematic of the Great War coexist within a controlled chaos.
Such caricatured, schematic, or highly emotional posters might be shocking or even reopen old wounds...
Let us not forget that those posters expressing as many biases as truths are merely witnesses to history.
